I would like to introduce everyone to the KBMO Metabolic Insights Profile (MIP), which I see as an improved version of what was previously known as Organic Acids. Referring to this solely as “organic acids” diminishes its true value, which is providing a metabolic snapshot of your patient’s condition.

Better Testing for Your Patients
Our scientists have developed a new test using the latest instruments and techniques, incorporating a comprehensive set of markers. We have actively used feedback from our practitioners to refine the report, making it as intuitive and user-friendly as possible. Our goal is to enhance clarity and ease of use, ensuring that practitioners can navigate and understand the information presented with minimal effort.

My team has developed an exceptional test using the latest Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS) technology – considered the gold standard for testing when precision and specificity are essential. Our lab was among the first in the world to install this instrument. With this advanced technology, we will achieve improved sensitivity and selectivity, ensuring that we deliver the most accurate and reproducible tests in the industry.

Ensuring Accuracy

One key advantage of our test compared to others currently available on the market is that we do not need to derivatize our samples before injecting them into the analyzer. Derivatization in chemistry refers to the chemical modification of the molecule being analyzed. When you derivatize a sample, incomplete reactions can introduce variability into your results.  To minimize this variability, we incorporate additional internal standards into our tests. This helps to ensure that differences in urine samples do not impact the final results.

Key Markers for Metabolic Assessment of Your Patients
Our scientists have collaborated with practitioners to identify the markers that can most help them assist their patients, in turn helping you assist yours. The markers measured within the Metabolic Insights Profile can reveal issues such as poor nutrition, microbial overgrowth, toxic exposure, oxalates, mitochondrial impairment, neurotransmitter imbalances, and other important insights.

For a complete list of the markers included in the MIP, please see here.

Glance and Go

Finally, we aimed to make the MIP report as intuitive as possible. We wanted it to be easy for you to understand, avoiding complicated graphs found in other reports. Additionally, we focused on ensuring it was easy for you to navigate, freeing up your time to be spent with your patient.
